MeloMochi

During my piano teaching journey, I created MeloMochi, an AI-powered compositional tool that helps students learn music theory through hands-on exploration. I designed the system to generate piano exercises and short pieces that adapt to each student's skill level, combining my experience as a pianist with my machine learning expertise. Using TensorFlow and pretty_midi, I trained models on classical repertoire to create exercises that feel musical while targeting specific technical challenges. The web interface I built with React allows students to interact with the generated pieces, visualize patterns, and even modify them in real-time. Working closely with my students throughout development helped me refine the system to ensure it genuinely supports their learning process, making music theory more engaging and practical.

PianoScope

PianoScope is my passion project that combines my love for piano and machine learning. I co-created this AI-powered tool with fellow musicians to help us better understand our playing patterns. Using deep learning and audio processing techniques I implemented in Python and TensorFlow, the system analyzes recordings to detect nuances in timing, dynamics, and pedaling. I built the interactive visualization interface using React, allowing performers to see how these elements evolve.

안녕하세요, I'm 김수아 (Kim Soo-ah), but you can also call me Angelina! I'm currently a second-year student at Seoul National University studying computer science engineering and music. I love to take my combination of skills of technical and artsy skills to create beautiful things for the world that I am passionate about.

In my free time you'll definitely catch me watching K-drama and League of Legends. I also practice piano one or two hours a day and want to start uploading content one day. May or may not also catch me going for strolls around my neighbohrhood.

What I'm Up To:

  • I volunteer at the SNU international students association helping international students with korean speaking and overall getting to know Korea a little bit better.
  • I'm also looking for summer internships related to software design for music information retriveal, developing ai algorithms to automatically generate sheet music from audio.
  • Course work is a bit intense! You'll find me in the quiet rooms studio doing work. I also spend a few hours each week as a lab assistant researching.
